Every corporation in America today is concerned with security and the liability of not providing enough security to its clients and employees. For organizations that use personal electronic records to handle non-public customer information, the need to protect that data has never been greater. Identity theft has reached epidemic proportions; in fact, Congress estimates that nearly 10 million Americans were victims of identity theft in 2004 alone. Government mandated compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) and the Gramm Leach Bliley Act have forced the Medical, Financial, and Insurance market sectors to look towards IT security products that provide User Authentication, Data & Information Protection, Hardware Security, Audit Trails, and Asset Management to comply with the security and privacy portions of those Acts.
- 49% of companies have had laptops stolen within the last 12 months
- 60% of all corporate data assets reside on unprotected PC’s
- Total cost to recover from a data breach averaged $140.00 per lost record

The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac offers a comprehensive set of security features that provide User Authentication, Data Protection, Remote Access Restriction, and Tracking and Recovery of lost of stolen computers. We ensure that the confidential information is encrypted and secure at time of boot-up, and proper Authentication allows full access to that machine. Violation of the Authentication keeps that information encrypted and hidden from view, prevents remote access from that computer back to a network or an online account, and provides location information to our Security Monitoring Center to use in the recovery of that stolen asset. The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac can help keep you in compliance with existing and new data / privacy laws and provide your end-users with the ability to recover their stolen assets. Our Wi-Trac technology is the only available product that can track a computer through a wireless network. With this increase in Privacy and Security Breach laws and the over 50% wireless penetration of suburban America, The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac just makes sense as an effective tool for Data Protection and Theft Recovery.

Computer Tracking & Recovery
When The CyberAngel® Authentication is breached at login or boot-up, The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac’s unique technology covertly transmits an alert to our Security Monitoring Center, where we identify the location from which that computer is calling. The “unauthorized user or thief” is unaware that an alert is being transmitted. If that computer has been reported stolen, then our Recovery Team helps coordinate notice to all necessary law enforcement officials and works closely with them to provide a rapid recovery of your stolen computer. The CyberAngel is the only company to offer Wi-Trac technology, the first indoor / outdoor laptop positioning system that utilizes Wi-Fi to accurately pinpoint the computer location. With the market today in excess of 80 million portable computing devices, The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac is the best possible way to locate stolen assets.
Protection of Remote Access Points
The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac can lock Communication Port access from the Unauthorized User at time of password entry system violation. This would prevent any dial-up access to any Remote Access Server (RAS), the Internet, e-mail accounts, online banking or investment accounts, or other such dial-up access accounts. This also prevents unauthorized information transfer between a protected computer and a PDA or handheld device.
Physical Security of Hardware Containing Patient/Client Data
The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac reports any Unauthorized Access attempt via modem / network connectivity. The Security Monitoring Server identifies the phone number and / or IP address from where that computer is reporting, allowing for tracing of that number to provide location identification. In the event of theft, this information would be provided to the local authorities to provide for hardware recovery.
Unauthorized Transmission of Patient / Client Data
The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac can lock Communication Port access from the Unauthorized User at time of password entry system violation. This would prevent any dial-up access to the Internet, E-mail accounts, FTP sites, etc. to which unprotected information or files could be sent. In conjunction with the utilization of our encryption feature, protected files cannot be seen nor transferred to a floppy or Zip drive. Only an Authorized User would have access to The CyberAngel® Secure drive and the files contained within. . This also prevents unauthorized information transfer between a protected computer and a PDA or handheld device.
Key Management & Key Recovery
The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac allows the current password to be retrieved by an end-user or other authorized person to prevent unintended denial of plain text access to encrypted data. However, in the cases of "disaster recovery", there is no need to provide the user with the actual encryption key. The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac possesses a proprietary utility which, when used in conjunction with the hardware specific encryption key, any data encrypted by that specific system can be converted to plain text, regardless of the availability of the original computer system or the current password.
CSS, Inc. has been approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce as meeting stringent federal criteria and security policies related to the security, access and administration of encryption technology, keys and key recovery. This process of approval and certification included review by the FBI and the NIST. CSS, Inc. maintains records pursuant to the dictates of the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations, including data regarding key recovery requests received, release of keys, database changes, system administration access, and dates of such events for audit purposes.
Additional Benefits of The CyberAngel® Security Software
Internal Theft Protection
The CyberAngel® with Wi-Trac allows for location information reporting independent of the proper use of the password entry system. An event based counter triggers a silent communication to The CyberAngel® Security Monitoring Center, transmitting location identification information. This will transmit events even when the proper password is entered, but will not lock Com ports or encrypt files, so as not to alert the user. This feature also enhances the Asset Management program by adding additional tracking information about that computer.
